Tropical Storm Harvey has changed the lives of many people. Since it formed on August 17, 2017, until it dissipated on September 2, 2017, the storm has caused an estimated 70 billion dollars in damages.
Search-and-rescue operation conducted by the coast guard has saved over 4,000 people in Houston in only the first week of recovery.
In total over 17,000 people were rescued from the storm.
The Houston Flood was horrible, but we should expect more storms like this in the future. Efforts like this show the disaster response for people who we might need during the worst. Also, check out when the Canadian Coast Guard saved a Golden Retriever dog.
So 13,000 were rescued by volunteers, National Guard, and First Responders? Up your game USCG.
I’m glad they could save those people.
What a terrifying experience. Sometimes I wonder why I live where the air hurts my face and then remember it’s because of crazy things like this.
How will they think about this storm in the future?
I’m happy all those people were saved.
What about the dogs? How many dogs did they save?
What would have happened if they weren’t saved? How would the storm effect them?
I remember this hurricane (luckily wasn’t in this one) and it’s amazing how many lives were saved. It’s also sad with how many lives are lost every time a hurricane strikes somewhere. I’m from New Orleans and remember going through Katrina so it’s definitely an “experience” to say the least.
